Gardner family session in Daybreak, Utah

I live in a gorgeous community in Utah called Daybreak which has a big lake. The lake is available to use for kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and I've even seen people go swimming! There's a little area that's so dang cute and has this little beach feel. You wouldn't think it was taken in the middle of South Jordan! The popular spots are on the dock but I just love this area and the look it gives. Utah never disappoints and I love finding little gems like this in my backyard.

I had a session set up with this adorable family and while the day was a little cloudy, it still made for a perfect session. Laura (mom), absolutely nailed the outfits, everyone looks adorable and was perfect for the location. When picking your outfits, solid and pallet colors are usually always a win. You don't want to pick anything too bright because it can often reflect on skin and stay away from super thin stripes as they can look funky on the screen.

That little lady up top has the FUNNEST personality and while she looks like her daddy, her personality is 100% like her mom. She's spunky, has attitude and I swear she has the sense of humor as her mom. If you know Laura, you know that it doesn't make any sense! LOL

Daybreak Family Session, Hannah & Henry

In your career, do you have moments where you're like "this is why I love my job?" That's what this session was for me. I had the opportunity of photographing these two at their wedding 4 years ago! 😱For me, there is no greater feeling than having a repeat client, even better? Seeing a past bride and photographing her new little one.

Sloan Family Session at Big Cottonwood Canyon- Fall 2019

It's no secret that Big Cottonwood Canyon is a popular spot for photos. It's one of those spots that you can go to, and know the photos will be beautiful because it's perfect ALL YEAR LONG! You want snow? Got it. Want pretty greens and gorgeous views? Done. You want beautiful fall leaves? Fall has you covered. I wasn't surprised when Emily said she wanted her family sessions done at the gorgeous mountain location and I was all for it!

I met this adorable family through my little men. I took my boys in to the dentist and that's how I met the dad (Bart). I mentioned in a conversation that I'm a photographer and this is our 3rd session together! Photography is a true passion of mine and it always amazes me how it helps me connect with the best people!

Locations, Locations, Locations. In Utah! | Utah Photographer

As a Utah photographer it’s important for me to know all the popular locations for photography in Utah.  From Salt Lake County to Utah County, you’ll find a few options in this article to determine the look you’d like for your own photos. I'll show examples of the Utah Capitol,The Great Saltair and the Highland Gardens Nursery.

I like exploring locations because it gives my clients variety for their sessions and it encourages me to learn more about our beautiful state. Living in Utah and being a photographer, makes for tricky situations because our weather can be so nutty sometimes! That being said, we all have our favorite locations that we can count on every year. One of those being the blossoms at the Utah Capitol located in Downtown Utah.

Especially this year, after what felt like a crazy long winter, we were all anxiously want for them to bloom and have some color again! They can be a little tricky; not only lighting wise but it’s a gorgeous place which can make it a tad bit busy sometimes. But always well worth the wait.

As a mom, it’s really easy for us to get sidetracked with the day to day duties. For some of us, it’s a combination of; go to work, make dinner, care for the kiddos, spend time with hubby, study for school. On and on the list goes. Freezing memories with our babies falls into that category. They have photos with their siblings, grandparents, dad, family members but what about mom? When our kiddos get older, will they photos of their mom giving them baths? Dressing them for school or backing cookies? Probably not.

At home family session; Salt Lake City, Utah | Utah Photographer

I mentioned in a previous post that I’ve been CRAZY lucky to have been able to photograph Caitlin and her family several years in a row now. One thing that I love about our sessions is that she is always up for doing something different and usually tries to do a different season each year. So, when Caitlin reached out to me about doing an in-home family session I was over the moon excited!

Meet Dary and her amazing family! I met Dary almost 7 years ago when I started a new job and she was one of my first supervisors. Wow does time fly!

Co-Parenting-the good the bad & the even better | Utah Photographer |

It's been over 3 years since Darrick and I separated. Never in a million years did I think I would be on the other side of the camera taking pictures of him and our boys. If you would have told me I'd be photographing them I would have looked at you like you were crazy! Like most divorces, ours wasn't easy at the beginning. There was a lot of pain, hurt and feelings of betrayal. Most days we couldn't even have a normal conversation without feeling like one person was attacking the other.

I've loved doing sessions at tree lots for several years now! However, I always seemed to put them on the back burner so I always miss out on doing them. This year I decided to change that! I wanted to make sure I set time aside to do more than I normally do and I did!

It's happening! Utah is finally seeing a little more snow and its gorgeous. We got a
snow day a few weeks ago but it didn't really stick so we'll see how this week goes? Now
that Thanksgiving is over it's time to plan for Christmas and hope we have a white Christmas.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet one of the coolests
(THE coolest in my humble opinion) tiny humans on this planet.

This little man has SO MUCH energy it's crazy. From the moment he wakes up to the second
he goes to sleep hes going non-stop.

From running up and down, taking me all over the house
to calling me to talk gibber; mom, mom, mom, mom.

Nothing makes me feel happier than hearing him call me.
As soon as I responded the first time his favorite word became mom
and I am totally okay with that. :)

Studio sessions! I loved photographing this family and photographing 3 babies at once sure was a challenge. It was fun to test my abilities and I definitely had to work QUICKLY.

This studio is absolutely perfect in Sandy, Utah and all the sessions turn out simply FABULOUS. This momma looks unfaily amazing for having 3 little ones. I mean, seriously... U N F A I R. Definitely shows you what we are all capable of!

Meet this adorable family of 5!!

N Family |UTAH PHOTOGRAPHER|

This cute family is a fellow photographer and you can check out her amazing work at her website Stacy Marie Photography. I was seriously obsessed with how her session turned out. Stacy's hair color with the colors of our location worked so well together I couldn't ask for more.

She found this great little spot in Lehi, Utah and it turned out so great! I was so nervous photographing a fellow photographer but they were just great to work with.

Kylee Ann Workshop- Family session |UTAH PHOTOGRAPHER|

I dont think I will ever be able to explain how amazing
Kylee Ann's workshop was.  She put so much work into
the entire weekend providing awesome information
and making all of us girls feel so comfortable.

She put 3 sessions together and this was one of them!
She asked this adorable little family
to be our models and they were just so cute!

Their little boy Liam was shy in the camera but everyone
did such a great job at helping them feel comfortable
and he was giggling in no time!

Weekend of workshops, meeting new people and living the dream

I had the most AMAZING weekend! Along with it being my baby's 2nd birthday, I got to attend the KyleeAnn Workshop and it couldn't have been better!

As much as I love photography, it was a little hard for me to know I wasn't going to spend the day with my baby on his birthday. Being a mom is hard, we put ourselves through guilt trips when it is completely unnecessary. My son had no clue it was his birthday and that I was missing it but of course, it still hurt me to be away from him.
Now on to the good stuff!

We photographed this adorable couple at the
cutest greenhouse, Freckle Farm.

Robyn & Brett Family || UTAH FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER||

So, fun story. Robyn and I went to school together and were cheerleaders our sophomore year!
As most High School friendships, after High School we lost touch and found each other through what else? Yup! Facebook!

I felt so honored when she asked me to take her family pictures and I am so happy with how they turned out! Her little boy was just the cutest and his first words to me where "We were looking for you all day!" Haha! Meet Robyn and her cute family :)

Can you believe the lady in pink is the mom to these 3 amazing human beings??
So happy I was able to capture these images of such an amazing family.

We got to hang out in South Jordan, Utah
for these images and we were so lucky
to have these beautiful blossoms in the back ground!

Mom & Dad || Mami y Papi ||UTAH PHOTOGRAPHER||

These, are my amazing parents. Words cannot express how lucky I feel to have them in my life. If I turn out to be even a little bit like my mother, Id feel so incredibly blessed. My dad would do anything for my siblings and I. If there is one person I know I can count on, its him. I love you!
